Liverpool have essentially been crowned Premier League champions after Thursday's news. The Premier League confirmed that competition will resume on June 17 with Sheffield United's trip to Aston Villa and Manchester City hosting Arsenal in order to equalise every team on 29 games.Full rounds of fixtures would then commence on the weekend of June 20 with all 92 remaining fixtures due to be broadcast on live television across a variety of sources.Flagship broadcasters BT Sport and Sky Sports will still command the majority of the live action, but the BBC have also made history by securing the rights for four live fixtures. And Sky, who own 64 of the outstanding 92 games, will also make 25 of their matches available to non-subscribers on free-to-air television.

The Premier League on free TV

It's an exciting announcement for football fans who have been missing their fix of the beautiful game and also those who haven't been able to afford subscriptions fees amidst the COVID-19 situation.

The full list of fixtures have yet to be married to exact dates and sources, though it has been confirmed that one of the biggest Premier League ties of all is set for freeview broadcast.

That's because Rob Harris of the Associated Press has confirmed that Liverpool's trip to Goodison Park in the Merseyside Derby is one of Sky's matches that they will make available for free.

Liverpool can win the league at Goodison

Aside from being one of English football's most iconic fixtures, it also gives Liverpool the chance to win their inaugural Premier League title at the home of their biggest rivals.

If Arsenal are able to secure a win at the Etihad Stadium in mid-week then a victory for Liverpool would wrap up the crown for the whole country and, of course, Goodison Park to watch.

It would be the ultimate vindication for Liverpool fans who have waited 30 years for a league title and have been left fretting over whether the 2019/20 season would be rendered null and void.

The only thing missing would obviously be the supporters and the Liverpool squad would be left to celebrate their historic achievement in front of, well, absolutely nobody. In person, anyway.

There will still be millions of Kopites around the country able to watch the game when they otherwise wouldn't be able to - and they'd be with the delighted team in spirit.

So, there are a few moving parts needed for Liverpool to tee up their dream scenario, but the mere possibility is enough to give Jurgen Klopp and co plenty of excitement and motivation.
