WWE legend The Undertaker has revealed that his super-showdown with Goldberg was ‘inches from being catastrophic’ as he and his opponent both marginally avoided serious injury.

Four-time WWE Champion Undertaker looked furious following the match, with it containing numerous mistakes throughout.

The super-fight was widely regarded as a flop and did not live up to expectations.

It began in explosive fashion as Goldberg hit 'Taker with two spears before his physical condition quickly declined after colliding head-first with a ring post, which caused him concussion and a severe cut.

Following the explosive start, many fans believed this was going to be a memorable fight in WWE history, however, things frantically took a turn for the worse as Goldberg looked weary.

Although clearly concussed, the referee chose to let the bout continue.

He had no choice other than to continue fighting, and attempted to hit the Reaper with a Jackhammer.

The light-headed Goldberg could hardly lift his foe and ended up dropping ‘Taker on his neck.

Undertaker after the fight was hospitalised and recalls being ‘worried for his life’.

More bad news was to come as Goldberg was to be on the receiving end of a possible career-ending injury of his own, just minutes after he had dropped the Reaper on his neck.

Undertaker lifted Goldberg up to hit his famous Tombstone Piledriver, but Goldberg failed to tuck his head in between ‘Taker’s legs, causing a sickening collision as the top of his skull struck the apron upon impact, bending his neck in the wrong direction.

Fans and commentators alike were spotted looking away, unsure of the veteran’s health and whether he had sustained an injury that might even prove fatal.

Goldberg was not the youthful, agile fighter he once was, and at the age of 52, having his head drove into the ground at that speed was obviously very dangerous, especially when you consider the cut he had sustained earlier on in the match.

Only recently, in an interview to promote the next episode of his “The Last Ride” documentary on the WWE Network, did 'Taker lift the lid on the disaster for the very first time.

“The bump that I had in Saudi when I was working with Goldberg, I think that one was a couple of inches from being catastrophic.

“The way I hit on that one, it kind of set out nerve impulses to all of my injuries at once, it was like an electrical charge went through my body.”

After the error-strewn clash, Goldberg took to Twitter to answer his critics and admitted he had let down his supporters with his performance.

He wrote: “I knocked myself out and thought I could finish and I love my fans but I let u down.

“Everyone else that found ‘pleasure’, hope ur happy.”

Despite apologising to his fans following his far from stellar performance, there was nothing said in regard to Undertaker and his wellbeing.
