One year ago today, Liverpool won the European Cup for a sixth time.
Jurgen Klopp’s side beat Tottenham 2-0 in Madrid to put the disappointment of narrowly missing out on Premier League glory behind them.
The final in the Spanish capital wasn’t the most entertaining but Mohamed Salah’s early penalty and Divock Origi’s late strike sealed No.6.
It was reward for an incredible season for Liverpool, who were denied Premier League glory despite picking up a ridiculous 97 points.
It was also made even more special by the fact they had reached the Champions League final 12 months previously, losing 3-1 to Real Madrid.
It was also the club’s first trophy since their League Cup triumph in 2012 – and the first in the Klopp era.
It’s no wonder, then, that the celebrations at full-time were pretty emotional. And there’s no-one quite so emotional as the manager himself.
Days after the triumph, Liverpool’s official Twitter account posted uncut footage of Klopp’s first six minutes as a Champions League-winning manager.
And now, one year on, the club have tweeted out the video once again – and it’s still just as emotional.
When the final whistle blows, Klopp has a friendly hug and quick chat with Mauricio Pochettino – the former Spurs boss.
Then, after congratulating a few members of his staff, he picks Jan Vertonghen off the floor.
The first Liverpool player he hugs? Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Andy Robertson and Adam Lallana are next before Georginio Wijnaldum jumps on his back. Simon Mignolet gets a quick hug before Klopp shares a beautiful embrace with Jordan Henderson.
It’s six minutes of pure unadulterated joy and is exactly what Liverpool fans need on this Monday morning.
In just a few weeks’ time, Liverpool could be tweeting out a similar video of Klopp celebrating after winning the Premier League…
