Amongst the misty darkness of a nation-wide lockdown, sports fans across the country have had little to turn their attention towards.

Now the government have given the green light for the Premier League to return behind closed doors, a light has seemingly emerged towards the end of the tunnel.

Ahead of live sport returning to our televisions, Sky Sports are feeding their starved fans with a range of gripping documentaries which have been recently revealed in a press release.

"As fans anticipate the return of live sport, Sky is set to offer TV customers access to a selection of popular sporting documentaries via the brand-new Sky Documentaries service, Sky Sports and NOW TV," the media outlet revealed.

These documentaries span a variety of different sports, with the likes of football, golf, cycling, cricket and many more sports-based programmes set to grace our screens.

Most notably, Sky placed a large emphasis on their Tiger Woods' retrospective documentary which highlights the American's historic comeback by winning the 2019 Masters. 'Tiger Woods: Back' appears to be at the forefront of their content which is set to debut on Sky Sports' new and exclusive documentary channel.

"The documentary takes an in-depth look into the golfer’s 2019 Masters victory with never-before-seen footage from the Sky Sports archive and exclusive interviews with golfing legend Butch Harmon, Sir Nick Faldo, Jaime Diaz, Notah Begay III, Ewen Murray and Consultant Neurological Spinal Surgeon Mr Peter Hamlyn," it reads.

This potential blockbuster will air on Sky Documentaries at 9pm, June 5. In addition to Tiger Woods' comeback story, Sky Sports has commissioned a handful of other documentaries which will undoubtedly quench the thirst of a variety of sports fans.

Exclusive to Sky Documentaries, the likes of 'Busby', 'Ali & Cavett: The Tale of the Tapes', 'The Amstrong Lie' and many others have already aired on the channel which take a deeper look into each particular topic.

In addition to this, Sky Sports have also confirmed two more programmes will feature on Sky Documentaries and NOW TV later this year. The first being a journey through Manchester United's history while being eloquently told through the soothing-French voice of Red Devils' legend Eric Cantona.

The second documentary is labelled 'Tyson Bruno' and the press release goes into further detail, stating: "This historic feature-length film charts the sensational highs and lows of two of the world’s most iconic black sportsmen.

"One hero, one villain: this is the story of America’s ‘baddest man on the planet’ Iron Mike Tyson as the friend and enemy of Britain’s gentle giant, Frank Bruno and the fascinating story of the way their lives remained connected like two sides of the same coin."

Aside from Sky Sports' dedicated documentary channel, they have also revealed that each Tuesday they will be releasing a sporting documentary on one of their channels. Last week was the pilot edition which oversaw the incredible career of Usain Bolt, while tonight's programme provides behind the scenes footage to 'The Notorious' Conor McGregor on Sky Sports Action.

Similar documentaries are set to follow suit which includes closer looks at the likes of Muhammad Ali, Wladimir Klitschko and Arsenal's 1989 underdog story.

With a range of content across the board, Sky Sports are certainly fulfilling their aim of reintroducing their malnourished fans to the world of sport.
