Wes Brown has tipped Jadon Sancho to replicate Cristiano Ronaldo's success if he was to complete a summer move to Manchester United.

The 20-year-old is one of the most sought-after prospects in the world of football after establishing himself as a key player for Borussia Dortmund.

Sancho has scored 17 and created 17 in just 27 appearances so far this term, proving that he's very much the real deal at the highest level of the game.

Such performances have attracted interested from Europe's biggest names, with Manchester United heavily linked with a move for the former City youngster.

Whether a move to Old Trafford could be on the cards remains to be seen, but according to Wes Brown, there's no question that the England international would be a great addition.

Asked what Sancho would bring to the club, Brown told MUTV: "Talent and excitement.

"We need someone exactly like that at the club. We’ve had them over the years and I’m sure if we were to sign him he would bring that excitement back to the club. It would be good for the team as well.

"We’ve had players like that in the past, like with Cristiano Ronaldo.

"They’re the type of player who draw three or four defenders out and make the game a lot easier for the other players.

"If we could do it, it would be a brilliant signing."

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

What a signing this would be for Manchester United.

Jadon Sancho is no 'flavour of the month' player, he's a prospect who has the potential to become one of the best players in world football.

What he has done since moving to Borussia Dortmund is hugely impressive, and if he can take those performances into the new season then he's got to be considered as one of the top 10 players on the planet.

If United can secure such a signing it will be a massive signal of intent that they plan to take themselves back to the top of the game.

Whether that can be done remains to be seen, but if they can pull it off then they'll certainly be much closer to their former glory.
