Aston Villa striker Keinan Davis is wanted by Besiktas, according to Posta via Sport Witness.
The 22-year-old has largely failed to make the grade during his time at Villa Park and his contract is set to expire at the end of the season.
Davis has made a total of 57 appearances for Villa at senior level, but has somewhat struggled for goals, scoring just four times, per Transfermarkt.
He has made 13 appearances this term, scoring in the 6-1 EFL Cup win over Crewe Alexandra, and it now appears that he could be set for a move to Europe.
According to the aforementioned report, Besiktas have held talks with Davis’ agent about the possibility of signing him on a free transfer; the forward is able to discuss such a move with foreign clubs and could even sign a pre-contract agreement were he to reach a deal.
The Turkish club’s manager, Sergen Yalchin, is said to be a big fan of Davis and is personally hopeful that the deal can be completed.
GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…
This could be manna from heaven for Davis.
His time at Villa hasn’t really worked out and while he has shown promise in the past – he was capped at U20 level by England and scored seven goals in 33 games for Villa’s U23s – it is clear that he simply hasn’t delivered on it.
The opportunity to move to one of Turkey’s biggest clubs and potentially play in Europe would actually be a step up from the young forward, who desperately needs a spark as he looks to reignite his career.
Letting his contract run out and making a move could be the best course of action for Davis.
