Adrien 'The Problem' Broner is renowned for his over the top personality both inside and outside of the boxing ring.
The American - who has held world titles in four different weight classes - is never far away from controversy but in 2013, the boxing world was his oyster.
He was never the people's champion, but his skills inside the ring had many likening him to the legendary Floyd Mayweather after winning his first 27 professional fights.
Broner's split decision victory over Paulie Malingnaggi in June 2013 saw him secure the WBA welterweight title and his first defence pitted him against the Argentine brawler, Marcos Maidana.
'El Chino' was predicted to be nothing more than a test for Broner and the American's trash-talk in the build up to the fight was cringeworthy as a result.
But sadly for Broner, his confidence wasn't backed up in the ring as he was picked off at will by the terrier-like Maidana, with the Argentine scoring a deserved victory by a unanimous decision.
A YouTube video from Carlos Enriquez perfectly captures the trash-talk from 'The Problem' in the build-up to the fight, the action in the ring itself and Broner scurrying off to his dressing room in the aftermath.
"I had a responsibility to the public to win and shut him up," Maidana nonchalantly says in an interview looking back at the fight.
The Argentine, who was a 5/1 underdog going into the bout, scored two knockdowns as he inflicted the first defeat of Broner's career.
After the bout, the American finally showed some humility as he posted on Instagram: “I am a man and first of all I want to say I’m sorry for running out on all the fans after my fight. That was wrong of me as a fighter. I want to congratulate team CHINO, and I want to thank everybody that supported the fight. But I am not done. This is just a minor set back for a major come back.”
Maidana went on to fight Mayweather on two separate occasions following his victory over Broner, before announcing his retirement from the sport in August 2016.
As for Broner, his career has never been the same since he was dethroned in San Antonio by Maidana.
Losses to Shawn Porter, Mikey Garcia and Manny Pacquiao, as well as a draw against Jesse Vargas, have seen his stock plummet in recent years.
It doesn't always pay to be a loudmouth.
