Liverpool are awaiting their coronation.

The Premier League is set to resume on June 17, with Aston Villa to play Sheffield United and Arsenal taking on Manchester City.

The Reds, of course, are 25 points clear of Pep Guardiola’s side and have been standing on the precipice of title glory throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

GIVEMESPORT has taken a look at the headlines surrounding Anfield as preparations for the big kick-off ramp up.

Take a look at the big news below!

The Daily Telegraph reports that the Reds’ pursuit of Timo Werner may not end up with the Germany international in a red shirt.

Indeed, they claim that Frank Lampard’s Blues are interested in snaffling the striker away from RB Leipzig and are exploring the possibility of tabling a bid.

The striker has a release clause of £53m written into his contract but it expires on June 15; the report states that it drops to £36m in 12 months, opening the door to negotiations between those two prices.

Werner, who has scored 31 goals in all competitions this season, per Transfermarkt, is said to be keen on a move to Anfield, but Chelsea’s interest may well put such a transfer in the balance.

Liverpool’s cheeky Dembele bid

Gianluca Di Marzio carry a report claiming that the Reds made a cheeky approach for Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele.

Indeed, they claim that Jurgen Klopp’s side tabled a loan bid for the France international in recent days.

Dembele has endured an injury-hit campaign at Camp Nou, making just five appearances in La Liga, per Transfermarkt.

The France international is said to have paid no attention to Liverpool’s overtures, instead outlining his intention to remain in Catalunya, however.

In total, the 23-year-old has scored 19 goals and registered 17 assists in 74 outings for Barca.

Mbappe given Liverpool advice

Kylian Mbappe has been told that he could become a “king” at Liverpool, were he to join the club from PSG.

In an interview with Sport Bild, translated by Sport Witness, Willy Sagnol, the former France international, told his compatriot that a switch to Anfield could add to his legend.

He said: “Mbappe would have to adjust under him: he demands a lot of defensive work from his strikers, which Mbappe is not yet good at.

"But he can learn that, especially from a guy like Klopp. No question: Mbappe could become a king with Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.”

Mbappe is still only 21 but is already a World Cup winner and has scored 90 goals in just 120 appearances for PSG, per Transfermarkt.

He has a contract until 2022 and is valued at £162 million by Transfermarkt.

Sticking with Ligue 1, RMC Sport claims that the Reds are “very interested” in making a move for Lyon ace Houssem Aouar in the summer transfer window but they are not alone.

Indeed, the report states that Manchester City are monitoring developments, with Juventus and PSG also in the frame.

Lyon value the midfielder at €50 million (£44.5m), and it remains to be seen if a bidding war will erupt.

The 21-year-old is already a first-team fixture at Lyon, making 133 appearances in total, per Transfermarkt, scoring 24 goals and registering 24 assists.

He is also a France U21 international and, if a big move is made, one has to imagine he will soon be in Les Bleus’ senior XI too.
