Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich is urging white players to join in with on-field protests against the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

Yesterday, the German FA confirmed that players who were supporting the cause in the Bundesliga on the weekend will not be sanctioned for their actions.

Borussia Dortmund duo Jadon Sancho and Achraf Hakimi, Schalke's Weston McKennie and Borussia Monchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram all made public showings of solidarity with protestors across the world.

Kimmich now wants footballers across the division to join the fight against racial inequality and has revealed the Bayern squad have already discussed making their own anti-discrimination statement.

“It’s good that it’s not just one player,” the Bayern midfielder said. “Maybe it is also an option to say something as a team. Football is like a role model, because normally in normal life – but especially in football – it is not possible that there is something like racism.

“We are one world, one club, one football team. It doesn’t matter if you are black or white. We as footballers, like with Sancho, have a lot of power to reach other people, to be role models and to say something. What we say to people outside gives us a big chance to make a statement.”

With regards to Bayern's own on-field message, Kimmich added, per Guardian: “We discussed it and maybe we can do something. We maybe have to do something because we cannot give something like this a place.”

With the situation out in the US continuing to intensify, the footballing world has a duty to support those demonstrating for a world without discrimination.

Bayern's next competitive fixture is away at Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday afternoon and if the Bundesliga champions display a unified expression of support, it will be yet another crucial showing of solidarity.
