Real Madrid are a club renowned for signing the very best players in the world.

Playing for Los Blancos is a dream for most and the 13-time European Cup winners have acquired some serious talent down the years.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Luis Figo, Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo Nazario and many more have all been snapped up for huge transfer fees and they've delivered the goods at the Bernabeu.

There has also been a litany of high-profile names who have found the going tough at Real Madrid. Kaka, Eden Hazard and James Rodriguez are just a few that spring to mind.

With so many coming and goings at Los Blancos, it's easy to forget some of the players - who are household names in the present day - that have played for the club.

MadridistaTV have created a YouTube video of '11 forgotten Real Madrid players' and have also included a snippet of their highlights during their brief spells donning the famous white shirt.

1. Marcos Alonso (1 game)

The current Chelsea left-back played just one game for Los Blancos before joining Bolton Wanderers in 2010.

2. Pablo Sarabia (1 game)

Now one of the world's finest playmakers, the Paris Saint-Germain man looked fairly decent in his one and only appearance for Real Madrid. If only Jose Mourinho had given him more of a chance...

3. Juanfran (11 games)

The Atletico Madrid legend, who missed the decisive penalty in the Champions League final against Real Madrid in 2016, in the famous white shirt just looks so, so weird! His highlights aren't bad, though...

4. Fabinho (1 game)

Liverpool's midfield behemoth looked like a fish out of water during his brief cameo in Madrid, but now he's one of the very best in the world.

5. Samuel Eto'o (8 games)

If you thought Juanfran in a Real Madrid shirt looked weird, then Eto'o will blow your mind. Judging by his highlight reel, it's no surprise Los Blancos sold him to Real Mallorca.

6. Emmanuel Adebayor (22 games)

Okay, this one is an odd inclusion. Not only do most football fans remember Adebayor's loan spell at the club, but the Togolese striker was a more than handy addition to Mourinho's 2010/11 squad.

7. Willian Jose (1 game)

The Brazilian striker is now tearing up La Liga with Real Sociedad. He joined Los Blancos on loan from Deportivo Maldonado in 2014 and the move really was a non-starter.

8. Hamit Altintop (12 games)

The highlights of Altintop in the video make him look like prime Cafu! In reality, the versatile Turk was a bit-part player for his year-long stay in Madrid and it's no surprise he falls into the 'forgotten' category.

9. Dani Parejo (5 games)

Valencia's midfield general, like so many others before him, just couldn't break into Real's star-studded midfield.

10. Michael Essien (35 games)

Forgotten? Not for us. Essien's year-long loan in 2012/13 was a resounding success, so his inclusion in this video is a tad baffling.

11. Nuri Sahin (10 games)

You should never have left Borussia Dortmund, Nuri. The highlights from his ill-fated move to the Bernabeu sum up just what a poor decision it was. Sadly, his career has never really recovered.

So there you have it, some eye-opening inclusions.

However, why the likes of Borja Valero, Christoph Metzelder and Geremi have been omitted in favour of Adebayor and Essien is a bit of a mystery.
