Celtic will be watching the situation regarding Kieran Tierney with a close eye this summer.
According to reporter Duncan Castles, the 22-year-old could be a surprise target for Leicester City as they look to tighten their grip on the top four.
The Foxes have enjoyed a successful season in the Premier League so far and find themselves in third place with nine matches remaining.
As a result they’ll be keen to strengthen again this summer, and given the ongoing speculation linking Ben Chilwell with a move to Chelsea, they could well be looking for a left-back.
While this is potentially bad news for Arsenal, it could also have a knock-on effect to Tierney’s previous club.
According to The Sun, Celtic inserted a 15% sell-on clause into the deal to take the full-back to North London, however there’s a twist.
That 15% is against the profit made in a sale, and not the overall sum.
With Kieran Tierney costing Arsenal £25million last summer, they’ll be praying that the Gunners attract an offer of more than that in order to get their hands on a slice of the pie.
Should the full-back sell for less than £25million, then the Bhoys would miss out and the clause would expire.
GIVEMESPORT’S Phil Spencer says…
Celtic will be hoping that Kieran Tierney will not move on this summer.
The full-back has had a disrupted first season with Arsenal with injuries hampering his ability to settle into life in North London.
While we’ve seen small glimpses of what he has to offer, we know that there’s plenty more in his locker.
If Arsenal sell this summer then they’ll be getting a fee which is much lower than the defender’s true potential value – something which in turn will hit Celtic’s pockets.
If Tierney can stick around for another year at least, he has the potential to establish himself as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League – something which means that his price tag could double over the period of 12 months.
