Jose Mourinho urges Tottenham to sign Chelsea's Kurt Zouma

Jose Mourinho is hoping to lure Kurt Zouma to Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

According to RMC Sport in France, the Spurs boss is hoping that the Chelsea man can solve his defensive crisis as they plan ahead to next season.

In fact, he's so keen that he's reportedly asked the club's board to make Zouma a priority.

It was Jose Mourinho who brought the Frenchman to Chelsea in 2014 for a fee of £12million.

It was expected that the central defender would go on to become one of the best defenders in world football, but after a stuttering career at Stamford Bridge it seems that the Frenchman is at something of a crossroads in his career.

At 25 years of age, Zouma is approaching his prime years in the game and as such is not keen to be a bit-part player under Frank Lampard in West London.

It's also claimed that Chelsea aren't opposed to the idea of cashing in on the defender.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

This could be a very shrewd move by Tottenham Hotspur.

Kurt Zouma has a wealth of experience at the top end of the Premier League, and while things haven't gone perfectly to plan with Chelsea, he will certainly add value to the Spurs side.

The Frenchman does have a tendency to make the occasional blunder, but given the fact that Jose Mourinho's sides don't tend to rely on the centre-backs to play out from defence, he should be okay.

A move isn't expected to be announced any time soon, but this could certainly be one to watch.
