Liverpool are considering joining the bidding for Jadon Sancho ahead of the summer transfer window, according to The Independent.

Manchester United and Real Madrid are both interested in signing the Borussia Dortmund winger, with the Red Devils having previously been confident of securing his signing.

The Independent reports, though, that Sancho is prioritising the ability to play in the Champions League; United have yet to seal their qualification.

Liverpool, as such, could see an opportunity to swoop for the former Manchester City youngster, who has become a star in Germany; this season alone, he has scored 20 goals in all competitions and registered 20 assists in just 39 games.

There are still issues relating to the Reds’ finances – they did not sign Timo Werner from RB Leipzig, instead seeing him close in on a move to Chelsea – but the report claims that if manager Jurgen Klopp wants Sancho, the money could be found.

There is the possibility that Liverpool will wait until next summer, but Sancho is said to be keen on the possibility of a move to Anfield.

Any deal would cost at least £80m, and there is an expectation that the England international will move in the summer window.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

This would be an astonishing signing for the Reds.

They have a fabled front three of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, and Mohamed Salah, but a move for Sancho would upgrade that trio in a genuinely superlative way.

He could play on either side or even through the middle, and allow Klopp to continue developing his forward line.

A move to Liverpool would make more sense for the 20-year-old than a switch to United; the Reds are guaranteed to be in the Champions League next season and will surely be crowned Premier League winners in the coming weeks once football comes back.

Making such a move from a position of strength would be an incredible statement and show that they mean business when it comes to retaining the title they are guaranteed to win.

Finances will ultimately win the day but one has to feel that Liverpool should pull out all the stops to bring the youngster back to the UK.
