It may have been over two months since we've seen Manchester United play, but that doesn't mean that the work has stopped.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been working his players hard during the enforced break from action with each player having a personalised training programme to get stuck into at home.

The squad are now back at Carrington and preparing for a return to top flight action in just over two weeks time.

Plenty is going on off the pitch as well as the club look ahead to next season and start to eye up potential summer additions.

Here are the latest news stories to come out of Old Trafford in the last 24 hours.

Manchester United face competition from Liverpool for Jadon Sancho

Liverpool are considering joining the bidding for Jadon Sancho ahead of the summer transfer window, according to the Independent.

Manchester United and Real Madrid are both interested in signing the Borussia Dortmund winger, with the Red Devils having previously been confident of securing his signing.

The Independent reports, though, that Sancho is prioritising the ability to play in the Champions League; United have yet to seal their qualification.

Liverpool, as such, could see an opportunity to swoop for the former Manchester City youngster, who has become a star in Germany; this season alone, he has scored 20 goals in all competitions and registered 20 assists in just 39 games.

There are still issues relating to the Reds’ finances – they did not sign Timo Werner from RB Leipzig, instead seeing him close in on a move to Chelsea – but the report claims that if manager Jurgen Klopp wants Sancho, the money could be found.

Manchester United tipped for last-minute Timo Werner move

Ray Parlour has backed Manchester United to make a last-minute move for Timo Werner.

The forward is said to be on the cusp of a move to Chelsea, but according to Parlour, he'd be surprised if United didn't try their luck before deal is complete.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, Parlour said: "I’m amazed that Man United are not in for Werner.

“They’ve got money and probably do need another striker; [Marcus] Rashford can play wide if you need him to, off the flank.

“I’m sure Manchester United might make a last-minute pop for Werner as well.

“I think the agent is trying to work the market now; that is how they work, putting it out there that the deal is nearly done and alerting other clubs so they have to pull their finger out.

“'If we really want this player then we’ve got to up the money and up the wages’, and suddenly it could be a different factor for Chelsea.”

Manchester United 'in talks' over move for Thiago Almada

Manchester United are in talks over a move for Thiago Almada, according to reports in Argentina.

Quoted in The Metro the 19-year-old, who plays Velez Sarsfield in Argentina, is also attracting the attention of Manchester City.

It's thought that the midfielder has a release clause of £20million in his contract which could make a deal relatively simple to do.

Bayern Munich set to beat Manchester United to Kai Havertz deal

Bayern Munich are set to beat Manchester United and Liverpool to the signing of Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz, per The Independent.

The 20-year-old is one of the most in-demand players in Europe after a series of sparkling displays for the Bundesliga club.

This season alone, he has scored 15 goals and provided eight assists in all competitions and that has led to interest from across the continent, with both the Reds and the Red Devils expressing an interest in securing his signature.
