Chelsea are on the brink of making Timo Werner their signature summer signing.
It seemed for a long time as though Liverpool would purchase the German striker after inevitably winning the Premier League title, but the Reds have pulled out of a deal on financial grounds.
It's reported that the Blues have agreed a deal to sign Werner after activating his release clause at RB Leipzig and his arrival at Stamford Bridge seems to be a question of 'when' as opposed to 'if'.
Marry that to the pre-agreed arrival of Hakim Ziyech and Chelsea have the makings of a thrilling starting XI next season of which Werner could be the spearhead.
You definitely get the feeling as though the Blues have stolen a player from under the noses of many top European clubs who have been impressed with his current 31-goal season.

It will be particularly pleasing to the ears of Chelsea fans, too, that Werner has reportedly agreed to personal terms, especially when it had been so strongly indicated that he was besotted with Liverpool.
But the information we have at the moment certainly suggests that Chelsea sweetened the deal with a handsome pay cheque which, according to The Sun, comes to around £170,000-a-week plus bonuses.
And if you're doing some mental maths with Chelsea wages after reading that, you'll know that it means Werner will be sitting with a wry smile if wages are ever discussed in the dressing room.

In fact, the reported deal means that Werner would become Chelsea's highest-earner, surpassing the current duo at the top of the wage bill: Kepa Arrizabalaga and N'Golo Kante.
All in all, the Chelsea wage bill surpasses a monster £800 million and The Sun have revealed the 11 players on the biggest money adjusted on the assumption that Werner is incoming.

It'll certainly sit better with Chelsea fans that one of the most prolific strikers in Europe is due to become their highest earner as opposed to a goalkeeper who has struggled all season long.
It's also pretty eye-opening to see that Hudson-Odoi and Pulisic are amongst some of the biggest earners despite still being largely unproven in the first-team.
And you have to imagine that youngsters such as Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount and Reece James will be climbing the financial ladder in months and years to come.
The dressing room took a unanimous vote last month that they would take a voluntary, temporary pay cut, but the wages will revert to the above when the Premier League returns on June 17.
Chelsea fans will be hoping it's sooner rather than later that Werner will be collecting wages from them as opposed to his current employers or - of course - their rivals Liverpool.
