This summer’s transfer window will be like no other.

The coronavirus pandemic has affected even the biggest of clubs around the world, while player values have dropped significantly.

We’ve already seen the effect of COVID-19 had on Liverpool’s pursuit of Timo Werner with the European champions not being able to afford the £50 million to sign their long-term transfer target.

Chelsea, on the other hand, seem more than capable of paying that the German’s release clause.

While many clubs will choose not to spend big this summer, the stock of some players continues to rise despite the lack of football.

But who are the most valuable players in world football right now?

Well, CIES Football Observatory have produced their latest study revealing the valuations of the top 100 players in the world.

Lionel Messi ranks 22nd at €100.1m, while Cristiano Ronaldo is down in 70th at €62.8m with their advancing ages clearly affecting their value.

20 | Frenkie de Jong | €102.1m

Barca signed De Jong for €75 million last summer and the 23-year-old is already impressing at the Camp Nou. Will only get better - and more valuable.

15 | Erling Haaland  | €107.3m

Just the 41 goals and counting for Haaland this season for Red Bull Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund. Ten goals in eight Champions League appearances shows the 19-year-old can really do it at the highest level.

14 | Joao Felix | €107.9m

Felix’s valuation is actually lower than the €126 million Atletico Madrid paid for him last summer.

Four goals in 20 appearances this season hasn’t been a great return but he’s still only 20-years-old.

13 | Gabriel Jesus | €113.1m

The Brazilian often has to play second fiddle to Sergio Aguero at Manchester City but he’s still managed 63 goals in 138 appearances for City.

11 | Roberto Firmino | €118.5m

Talking of crucial players in systems. Firmino makes Jurgen Klopp’s side tick even if he doesn’t have the greatest goalscoring record.
