Chelsea are keen to sign Bayer Leverkusen starlet Kai Havertz this summer. The Blues are expected to complete a £53 million deal for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner when the transfer window opens, and they want Havertz to join him at Stamford Bridge.According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea are determined to gain ground on their rivals following their transfer embargo last summer and are ready to splash the cash on Havertz. The 20-year-old’s market value is north of £75m, so he won’t come cheap.Chelsea have already spent £38m on Hakim Ziyech from Ajax.Adding Havertz won’t be easy, though. He’s one of the most highly-rated youngsters in Europe, with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich keeping an eye on his progress in the Bundesliga.p1eabsnjh4ec7s891jg51d6h1o9kj.jpgHavertz has scored five times in four games since the season resumed.Discussing Havertz’s future, Bayer’s sporting director Simon Rolfes recently said: “We don’t know yet what will happen to Kai.“We know that all the great clubs from Germany and Europe are after him and that he has the ability to play anywhere.”

The Mail’s report adds that Chelsea are ready to scrap plans to sign a new goalkeeper this summer, despite Kepa Arrizabalaga’s inconsistent form.

Frank Lampard’s side will only move on from Arrizabalaga if they can recoup at least the majority of the £71.6m they spent to sign him in 2018.

Chelsea have been linked with Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana, who is apparently keen to join Ziyech in west London.

However, the Cameroon international is ready to stay with the Dutch giants for another season due to the uncertainty of the post-Coronavirus transfer market.
