Rangers will have to see off competition from 12 clubs if they're to bring Lyle Taylor to Ibrox this summer, according to Sky Sports.

The 30-year-old striker looks set to be on the move this summer with his contract with Charlton Athletic due to expire on June 30.

With Taylor available on a free transfer, it was inevitable that a number of clubs would be keen on a move, and that's certainly proven to be the case.

Alongside the Scottish giants, Premier League side Burnley are joined by the likes of West Brom, Brentford and Bristol City in the Championship.

He's even attracting the attentions of clubs such as Sivasspor in the Turkish Super Lig, who are said to have made him 'a lucrative offer'.

The only thing that appears certain for Lyle Taylor is that he'll leave the Valley this summer, with the striker refusing to return to action for the Addicks through fear of jeapardising a summer move.

Speaking to Sky Sports about his concerns, he said: "It makes me think what would happen if I had an injury now that threatened the rest of my career.

"I'll be honest with you, it scared the life out of me.

"That's my honest reasoning [for not returning]. I know it won't sit well with people but it's been a very hard decision to make."

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

What a summer it's going to be for Lyle Taylor.

With so many options at his disposal he's going to be like a kid in a candy shop as he looks for the most appetising options.

Rangers appear to be one of the leading contenders for his signature, and that's no surprise given their track record.

It was only last summer that Steven Gerrard's side landed an identical deal by signing Joe Aribo from Charlton Athletic on a free transfer.

Aribo was a close friend of Taylor in South East London, and he's certainly enjoyed life north of the border.

Rangers will be keen to pull off a similar deal this summer, and you can bet your bottom dollar that they've tasked Joe Aribo with having a quiet word with his former teammate to try and convince him to move to Ibrox.

Whether that will pay off remains to be seen, but there's no doubt that Rangers are one of the most appealing options at his disposal.
