Sony has announced their rescheduled PlayStation 5 event for this Thursday, June 11 at 9pm BST.

The live stream event titled ‘Future of Gaming’ was originally set to take place on June 4, but was subsequently postponed due to the ongoing Black Lives Matter protests.

Sony made the decision to delay the show a week, as they believed more important voices needed to heard.

Additionally, President & CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment Jim Ryan announced that the Sony Division plans to donate $1 million to various causes supporting the black community.

This ‘Future of Gaming’ event is set to provide players an overview of what games to expect on the console, which is due for release later this year.

Reports have suggested that gamers might see a bit more of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla or perhaps even Bloodborne 2!

In an official blog post, Jim Ryan said: “The games coming to PS5 represent the best in the industry from innovative studios that span the globe.

“Studios both larger and smaller, those newer and those more established, all have hard at work developing games that will showcase the potential of the hardware.”

Sid Shuman, the SIE content communications senior director has also advised viewers to wear headphones to watch the show to pick up the cool audio demonstrated that you would otherwise not be able to pick up via speakers.

In addition, there will also be a demonstration of the console’s new DualSense wireless controller, which is set to include features such as a new built in mic to chat with friends without the requirement of a headset and a USB-C port for its power cable.

The digital event is scheduled to run for around an hour and PlayStation has stressed: “This is part of our series of PS5 updates and we will still have much to share with you.”

You can watch this Thursday’s event either on YouTube or Twitch to see what further surprises PlayStation has in store.
