The announcement we've all been waiting for has finally arrived.UFC Fight Island is coming, and it's coming next month.There has been a lot of speculation regarding the future of UFC during the coronavirus pandemic, and although a couple of events have gone ahead in the meantime, Dana White has now put formal plans into place for a Fight Island in Dubai.When does it start? Well, the first event is July 11 and it's going to be seriously stacked.According to ESPN's Ariel Helwani, the July 11 event, which will be UFC 251, will play host to three title fights as it will see Kamaru Usman vs Gilbert Burns for the welterweight title, Alexander Volkanovski vs Max Holloway 2 for the featherweight title and Jose Aldo vs Petr Yan for the vacant bantamweight title.Consider us excited and consider us pumped!But that's not all from Fight Island, oh no. There has been further confirmation of three more events following UFC 251.There will also be an event on July 15, 18 and 25. So just to make it abundantly clear for everyone, that means a UFC event from Saturday, to Wednesday, to Saturday and then the following Saturday.
Absolutely stacked with content, and we for one cannot wait.
Speaking about the upcoming event, White commented: “We came up with the idea of having fights on ‘Fight Island’ because we needed a destination to hold international events during the global pandemic.
"Abu Dhabi has been an amazing location to hold fights over the past 10 years and it is the perfect place for these events. The infrastructure we are building will be such a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the fighters that’s never been done before – from the arena, the private training facility, and the Octagon on the island – it’s going to be an experience that none of us will ever forget.
