Leeds United urged to sign Che Adams

Noel Whelan has suggested that Leeds United should make a move to sign Che Adams this summer.

The club were priced out of a move for the Southampton striker in January, but speaking to Football Insider, the former forward believes that his decreasing valuation could open the door to a deal.

Whelan said: "He has not had too many opportunities at Southampton.

“Before we stopped playing he was getting assists and Hassenhuttl was actually seeing a player that was adding something to Southampton. They were looking after their own interests in January.

“I do not think there will be any imminent move but Leeds will have that one in mind, it is an option.

“They know he is available now and at a cheaper price. Everyones value has gone down so it might work out better for Leeds in the long-run.”

Phil Hay reveals situation with Leeds United's Ian Poveda

Phil Hay has revealed that he assumes a lack of fitness is the reason behind Ian Poveda's inability to break into the Leeds United first team.

The youngster arrived at the club from Manchester City in January and was tipped to be an immediate success.

However Poveda has barely featured for the promotion-contenders, something which The Athletic writer puts down to not meeting Marcelo Bielsa's high standards.

Speaking in a Q&A for The Athletic, Hay said: "I haven’t heard any more about him in the past couple of months. It was slightly strange with him – he came in, trained well and made a couple of matchday squads but then disappeared from view completely.

"With Bielsa, you automatically assume that Poveda wasn’t hitting the right levels of fitness or performance.

“That tends to dictate Bielsa’s selection policy and to the best of our knowledge, Poveda hasn’t been injured.”

Leeds United's interest in Manchester United's Daniel James hits dead end

Daniel James will not be leaving Manchester United on loan this summer, according to Manchester Evening News reporter Dominic Booth.

Leeds United have been linked with a move for the 22-year-old, who was being lined up for a new contract at Old Trafford, ahead of a potential loan move to continue his development.

There were hopes that Marcelo Bielsa's side could make a summer move, but according to Booth, that now appears unlikely.

He tweeted: "I'm told there is no chance of Daniel James leaving Manchester United on loan this summer.

"Talk of a new contract is also a little premature, but Solskjaer sees him as a huge part of his plans."
