Chelsea are monitoring Brentford’s Said Benrahma as their preparations for the summer transfer window continue, per The Guardian.

The Blues have acted swiftly and decisively in the market, securing a deal to sign Hakim Ziyech from Ajax and also agreeing in principle the transfer of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig.

The report states that there is interest in Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz, too, along with Leicester City’s Ben Chilwell.

But the report also names Benrahma as a possible target as the window looms.

The 24-year-old has been in exceptional form in the Championship, scoring 10 goals and registering eight assists across 34 games in the second tier.

Brentford are currently fourth in the table, 11 points behind leaders Leeds United but five clear of seventh-placed Bristol City.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

This deal may well come down to whether or not Brentford are promoted.

They are looking good for a spot in the play-offs ahead of the resumption of the Championship, and if they continue that trajectory and find their way into the top-flight, one has to wonder if they would be willing to cash in on such a key asset.

Of course, Chelsea have the financial muscle to do a deal, but it will surely be made that much easier if The Bees are still playing in the second-tier in the 2020/21 season.

The Blues would do well to wait and see how things turn out before making any kind of move for the winger, as would any of his suitors.

Whatever happens, though, it appears that Benrahma may be playing in the top-flight next season.
