Aaron Hickey should take the opportunity to continue his development with Chelsea, rather than link up with Celtic this summer.
That's the view of former Scotland footballer Andy Walker who was discussing the youngster's future on Sky Sports.
The 18-year-old looks set to be one of the hottest prospects in football this summer following reports that he'll be allowed to leave Hearts.
The full-back has just one year remaining on his contract at Tynecastle which means that he could be available for a relatively modest fee for a player of his potential.
Celtic are tipped to be favourites for his signature, however there's also reported interest from the likes of Bayern Munich and Leicester City.
But according to Walker, Hickey would be best served by following in the footsteps of fellow countryman Billy Gilmour by moving to West London.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Andy Walker said: “It's well known Frank Lampard is looking for options to possibly replace either Marcos Alonso or Emerson Palmieri and Leicester's Ben Chilwell would probably be his No 1 target.
“But there's no doubt in my mind that, in time, Hickey could follow the example of Liverpool's Andrew Robertson or Arsenal's Kieran Tierney and adjust from playing in the Scottish Premiership to thriving in the more demanding English Premier League.
“Given that he would be a very cheap option, in my view it would be worth it for Chelsea to take Hickey now and school him in their coaching system.
"Chelsea will of course realise there are a few gems to be found in Scotland having signed Billy Gilmour from Rangers for no more than a development fee for the Ibrox club.
“Gilmour joined Chelsea as 16-year-old three years ago and now look at him. He's regarded as one of their brightest prospects and earned rave reviews for his outstanding contribution in Chelsea's 2-0 FA Cup win over Liverpool earlier this season.
“As things stand, Hickey is all potential. But, like Gilmour at a young age, Hickey will have exciting choices to make soon.”

At the age of 17, it seems that the young Scotsman is going to have his pick of some of the biggest and best clubs on the continent.
Despite playing for a poor Hearts side, the youngster has certainly shown enough to suggest that he can adapt to a higher level of football.
Whether that's with Scottish champions Celtic, or a move to the Premier League or the Bundesliga, it's going to be a great opportunity for Hickey to make his name in the game.
