The Juventus superstar has proven time after time that when his team needs him most, he'll be on hand to score a last-minute winner, take a nerve-wrecking penalty or inspire a historic comeback.
The most recent example of Ronaldo's brilliance when the chips are down came in last season's Champions League round of 16 tie against Atletico Madrid.
Having lost the first leg 2-0 in the Spanish capital, Juventus needed something special to turn things around and Ronaldo rose to the occasion with a stunning hat-trick in a 3-0 whitewash.
You could probably argue that it was Ronaldo's weakest season in the last decade, but when it mattered most for him to show his best, he duly delivered.

Ok, horrendous jokes aside, Ronaldo just seems to thrive upon the tension of situations that seem to be escaping his teams. It's almost as though he needs to be needed to play at his best.
And so many of those pressure moments are coming up against tough opposition such as Pep Guardiola's Barcelona and Diego Simeone's aforementioned Atletico.
When Ronaldo ups the ante when the pressure is on, it doesn't matter who he's facing, they're getting torn apart regardless of their reputation and resources.
And when the team they're playing isn't so incredible, well, low and behold, he's scoring acrobatic back-heels in the last minute against Valencia.
They've never made athletes like Ronaldo before and they'll never make one like him ever again.
