Nottingham Forest will make a move for Newcastle United midfielder Jack Colback this summer if Ben Watson leaves the club, per The Athletic.
Watson has a contract that expires at the end of the season but he remains an integral member of the squad at the City Ground, making a total of 37 appearances in the Championship.
He has been offered a one-year deal, though The Athletic claims that he is more likely to commit his future to the club if he is offered a two-year contract.
The 34-year-old has other options, too, as he is also wanted by QPR and Charlton Athletic and, as a result, there is a back-up in place in the form of Colback.
The 30-year-old is still under contract with Newcastle and spent the 2018/19 season on loan at Forest.
He has not played this season, however, and appears set to be released upon the expiration of his contract at the end of this campaign.

Colback’s career has been a rather odd one.
Beginning his career at Sunderland, he came through the youth ranks only to move to their bitter rivals in 2014.
He has not played for the Magpies since the 2016/17 season, however, when Newcastle were in the Championship.
His last appearance came on May 7th in 2017, playing as a defensive midfielder in a 3-0 win over Barnsley.
Since then, he has gone on two loan spells to Forest and is now in the wilderness.
This is a startling fall for a player who won a call-up to the England squad back in 2014.
Now, at the age of 30, he is in desperate need of a lifeline; Forest may just be willing to offer it.
