The imminent release of Season 4 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone has left gamers excited about what’s in store.
Infinity War has been teasing fans about the mystery in Verdansk. It’s clear from the mysterious coded messages, bunkers containing unarmed nukes and howling wolves across the map that something is coming.
Some are even speculating that Zombies, the popular game mode first introduced in Call of Duty: World at War, could arrive in Season 4.
A lot of fans were expecting to see a horde of zombies storm out when the bunkers finally opened, but that didn’t happen.
But a recent discovery in the Warzone files suggests that they could arrive in another way.
ModernWarzone, who provide all the latest information about the game mode, have pointed out the many references that have recently been discovered in the battle royale.
They include the teddy bears found throughout Verdansk, the zombie rat and the recent finding of Spaceland documents.
Spaceland was the zombie mode in Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.
So, does all this point to Zombies arriving in Season 4? We’ll have to wait and see.
GAMINGbible’s Ewan Moore is sceptical about Zombies coming soon, though.
“Will zombies arrive as soon as Season 4 lands, though? I doubt it,” he said.
“To be entirely honest, I'm not convinced they'll arrive as part of Season 4 at all.
“It's more likely that Infinity Ward continues to drop teasers and mysteries throughout the fourth season, potentially unleashing the undead as some kind of Halloween event.
“My best guess is that there'll be some form of limited-time mode that sees players having to fight off zombies as well as enemy teams. I'd be all for that.
“We'll just have to wait and see exactly how it happens, but given the enduring popularity of zombies in Call Of Duty, I'd bet everything that it's only a matter of time before they join the battle royale.”
