The fight that everyone – and we mean everyone – wants has finally been confirmed. Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will unify the heavyweight division next year.
Confirmed by both parties, a fight which Fury has labelled the biggest in British boxing history, will see the two heavyweight champions finally meet in the squared circle.
With the small caveat of defeating their upcoming opponents, however. Fury will need to defeat Deontay Wilder for a second time to confirm the fight, whilst Joshua puts his belts on the line against Kubrat Pulev in the interim period.
Many fans have wondered what an Joshua and Fury fight might look like and who would prevail. Who would be the best heavyweight of the generation?
Well wonder no further. The fight has been fought already, on the superb 'Fight Night Champion' game.
If you can ignore the quite frankly ridiculous looking custom Fury battling in the ring, the Gypsy King and Joshua come to blows in a simulation posted on YouTube a few months ago.
The opening few rounds were cagey as Fury’s famous defence shone through. He would, however, rock AJ with a vicious body shot in the third round that almost sent him to the mat.
This was the catalyst for Fury. He took the heat from Joshua for the next handful of rounds, losing all of them on the judges’ scorecards.
Whilst AJ came out swinging, losing stamina, Fury was playing the long game and after eight rounds, the pair were even.
The long game came to fruition in the 10th round as Fury landed a stiff right uppercut to AJ. He crumbled to the mat.
The knockdown had Fury ahead on points going into the final two rounds and with his unimpeachable defence, there was only one winner.
In the end of, all three judges were in unanimous favour of Tyson Fury, 116 to 111.
The long game caught up to Joshua and now Fury is the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.
It remains to be seen if this will be the case in real life, but we’re at least a little closer to finding out for good.
