Erik Lamela has the remainder of the season to prove his worth to Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho, per Football Insider.

The Argentina international has struggled for game time this season, making just 10 starts in the Premier League.

Football Insider reports that the winger is likely to be among those players viewed as expendable in the summer, unless he can change his manager’s mind between now and the campaign’s end.

Lamela will reportedly be given the chance to show what he can do but it is said to be likely that he will be departing.

Signed after Gareth Bale’s departure, the 28-year-old has a contract until 2022 and is valued at £14.4 million by Transfermarkt.

He has made just three starts under Mourinho, last playing in the 1-1 draw with Burnley prior to the Premier League’s shutdown.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

It is probably time for a clean break.

Lamela has been with the club for seven years at this point and his form has never reached the level where he could be described as indispensable.

Indeed, across 214 games, he has scored 33 goals and registered 47 assists.

He is a sporadically brilliant player but those flashes are all too rare and there are other options in his position; Spurs can field Steven Bergwijn on the right flank and they also have Lucas Moura as an option.

If a club comes knocking with a decent bid in the summer, Spurs should be accepting it.
