Everton are lining up a move for Roma winger Cengiz Under, per Corriere dello Sport via Sport Witness.

The Turkey international has made his breakthrough in Serie A, moving to the club in 2017 from Istanbul Basaksehir in his homeland.

The 22-year-old has made a total of 85 appearances for the club, scoring 17 goals and registering 12 assists, while also winning 20 caps for his country.

A jinking winger, Under is reportedly wanted by the Toffees ahead of the summer transfer window.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti is said to have earmarked Under as a possible acquisition and Roma want €30 million (£26.9m) if they are to sanction his sale.

That fee has been set because of the fact that Basaksehir will be due €4.5m (£4m) due to a sell-on clause.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

Under has been hailed in the past.

Turkey’s former national team boss Mircea Lucescu, speaking in 2018, said that the forward should seek a move to a major club, insisting that he would do well at Bayern Munich.

Indeed, he even compared the winger to Liverpool ace Mohamed Salah.

Per Turkish-football.com, he said: “Cengiz keeps developing every day. His future looks really bright. His playing style and quality remind me of Mohamed Salah.

“There are five years between them so obviously there is a difference in experience. It is worth comparing that Salah was like at Cengiz’s current age.”

Salah, of course, made a big move from Roma to Liverpool in 2017; it remains to be seen if Under will follow in his footsteps by moving to Merseyside.
