PS5 launch: Spider-Man Miles Morales announced with stunning trailer

Miles Morales was a playable character in the 'Marvel Spider-Man' game released in 2018

The highly-anticipated PlayStation 5 launch last night saw 25 new games for Sony's new console revealed.

Gran Turismo 7, Hitman 3, Resident Evil 8 and more were shown to the public for the very first time and the trailers understandably sparked a lot of excitement.

But perhaps the most stunning revelation of the evening was for the new Spider-Man game set to be released on the PS5 this year.

Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales was announced by Insomniac Games and Sony as the first new game of the evening and to say it got the launch party off to a flying start is a serious understatement.

The trailer is absolutely breathtaking, with stunning graphics and action-packed gameplay all on show.

We all knew deep down that a new Spider-Man game was in development, but we didn't expect it to look that darn good!

The sequel to 'Marvel's Spider-Man' - which debuted on the PlayStation 4 in 2018 and was a bestseller - follows Miles Morales, a breakout character in the Spider-Man series since his debut in comics back in 2011.

Morales was a playable character in the 2018 game and was bitten by a radioactive spider right at the end - which is why he has so many cool powers in the trailer.

Here's what PlayStation Blog had to say on the new Spider-Man game: "The latest adventure in the Spider-Man universe will build on and expand Marvel’s Spider-Man through an all-new story. Players will experience the rise of Miles Morales as he masters new powers to become his own Spider-Man.

"With PS5’s ultra-fast SSD, players can near-instantaneously fast-travel across Marvel’s New York City, or feel the tension of each one of Miles’s web-swings, punches, web shots, and venom blasts with the DualSense wireless controller’s haptic feedback.

"Highly-detailed character models and enhanced visuals across the game intensify the story of Miles Morales as he faces great, new challenges while learning to be his own Spider-Man."

We cannot wait for this!
