Chelsea target Timo Werner is being ridiculed for latest miss vs Hoffenheim

Timo Werner will almost certainly be a Chelsea player next season

Timo Werner's move from RB Leipzig to Chelsea is nearing completion.

The Blues stunned the footballing world when it was announced that they had made the key breakthrough in negotiations for the lightning-quick striker.

Liverpool, Juventus, Inter Milan, Bayern Munich and Manchester United had all been linked with the German, who has 25 goals in just 31 Bundesliga games this season.

It's a hugely exciting deal for Chelsea and one that surely has to bring an end to the club's bizarre striker curse of recent years, right?

Well, ever since information of Werner's move to Stamford Bridge was made public to the world, the 24-year-old appears to have suffered a mini crisis-in-confidence when it comes to finding the back of the net.

Last weekend, we reported HERE on how Chelsea fans were jokingly likening the German to Alvaro Morata after his shocking miss against Paderborn.

But it seems that incident wasn't a one-off, because Werner produced another howler in front of goal last night away at Hoffenheim.

You can watch the footage for yourself below.

After being put clean through on goal, the former Stuttgart forward manages to blaze the ball miles over the crossbar when it looked easier to score.

Is that you, Alvaro? As expected, rivals fans were quick to ridicule Werner on Twitter.

One rival fan wrote: "Werner missing another big chance I’m telling you this guy will get 7 goals max next season."

Another quipped: "Chelsea is this your striker? Another huge miss from Werner."

Fortunately for Werner, his blushes were spared to an extent by teammate Dani Olmo, who grabbed a quick-fire brace in the first-half to seal a 2-0 win for Julian Nagelsmann's side.

However, Werner's mini-blip will have Chelsea fans a tad concerned ahead of his £50m move to the Premier League for next season.

Werner will be itching to get back amongst the goals when Leipzig host Dusseldorf on the Wednesday evening.
