Everton are set to make a huge loss on Morgan Schneiderlin as French club Nice pursue a deal for the midfielder, per The Daily Mail.
The 30-year-old has been with the Toffees for three years following a £24 million move from Manchester United.
Everton have repeatedly placed Schneiderlin in the shop window, though no bid has met their asking price.
However, the report states that they could accept a loss this summer and cash in for around £7m.
Nice are yet to decide whether they will make a formal bid for the former Southampton man but he is set to enter the final 12 months of his contract and one has to think that the Toffees would rather receive any sort of fee than let him go for nothing.
He has made 15 Premier League appearances thus far this season.
GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…
It’s just not really worked out for Schneiderlin since he left Southampton.
A spell at United could have been the pinnacle of his career but he played just 47 times and was reduced to a bit-part player after proving integral to the Saints.
Since moving to Everton, he has only once made more than 15 appearances in a league season.
A move, then, could be just what the midfielder needs as he looks to get his career back on track.
A former France international, Schneiderlin returning to his homeland could well light a fire under him and allow him to return to the form that earned him a move to Old Trafford in the first place.
