Arsenal have an agreement in place with RB Leipzig regarding the signing of Dayot Upamecano, Tuttosport reports.

The Gunners are said to have been promised by the Bundesliga club that, if they do sell Upamecano, he will be heading to the Emirates Stadium.

That has come about after AC Milan enquired about the possibility of signing the France U21 international this summer, only to be told of the agreement struck between Leipzig and the Gunners.

It would be a major boon to Mikel Arteta as he looks to reshape his squad but, of course, there are negotiations to be held between the 21-year-old and the Bundesliga club first.

Upamecano has a contract until 2021 and is valued at £40.5 million by Transfermarkt.

He has already become a centurion for his club, making 108 appearances in total, and he has also been linked with Manchester United.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

It appears to just be a waiting game for Arsenal now.

They simply need to bide their time and see if they are given the green light to get this deal done.

Upamecano is one of the highest-rated centre-backs on the continent and could fix a major issue for the Gunners if he ends up sealing a switch to the Emirates Stadium.

No fee has been mentioned, of course, but one has to think that whatever is paid will be worth it.

The Gunners could well be bringing in a defender who will play for them for the next decade, after all.
