Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua was finally made official last week, and clearly, fans have a pretty good idea who they’ll be putting money on.

The year 2021 will see the pair go head-to-head for the first time in either man’s professional careers.

As we are all now aware, thanks to an update via Tyson Fury’s social media channels, an agreement has finally come to fruition regarding a super-fight between the ‘Gypsy King’ and Anthony Joshua.

The pair are set to have agreed a two-fight deal, which will see out most of their 2021.

It would be the first time the pair have met inside the ring professionally and competitively and would likely be billed as the biggest event in heavyweight boxing this century.

Fury, however, faces the small task of toppling the ‘Bronze Bomber’ Deontay Wilder in their scheduled trilogy fight at some point before him and Joshua can finally meet.

Fury beat Wilder convincingly in their first rematch earlier on in the year after their first contest was deemed a draw by judges, a decision that was controversial if nothing else.

Joshua, on the other hand, comes off the back of a redemption victory against Andy Ruiz Jr after shocking the world by losing to the Mexican at the first time of asking.

Joshua is now scheduled to fight Kubrat Pulev in a title defence before turning his attention to Fury.

Worst case scenario would be Fury and Joshua both losing their upcoming fights before their much-anticipated matchup; however, the flip-side to this is that if both men beat their mandatories, we will finally have a unification fight on our hands.

As it stands, AJ and Fury hold every heavyweight belt between them, and the winner will unify the division.

There hasn’t been an undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 2002; and this would most certainly cause a ripple in the landscape of modern heavyweight boxing for years to come should we see this fight go ahead, and a clear winner being crowned.

Fans having been taking to Facebook to cast their vote in a poll put out by GiveMeSport to see who they feel would walk away victorious – the final vote was most certainly in Fury’s favour.

In fact, 62% of the people who voted backed the Gypsy King to get the job done over his British rival.

Fury remains unbeaten to this day, with only one draw to his professional record, whereas Joshua suffered a shattering loss at the hands of Ruiz Jr, which had a detrimental effect on his image shortly thereafter.

Joshua is the more calm and collected fighter of the two and accredits his love for the ‘sweet science’ of boxing, whereas Fury is a little more unpredictable and hones in on his ability to out-box opponents, change stances and willingness to take a punch or two.

It is clear the fans have spoken, now only time will tell; 2021 is going to be a huge year for sport.
