Tottenham are weighing up a move for Belgian right-back Timothy Castagne.
Reports late on Monday night emerged that Spurs were in the market for a right-back and were considering Thomas Meunier as an option.
However, The Times claims that one alternative to the PSG defender could be Castagne, someone who is not only of the same nationality but can also play in the same position.
Jose Mourinho has reportedly already met with Meunier but Castagne is an option with the Lilywhites aiming to improve their backline.
It's suggested that Spurs will look to cash in on Serge Aurier and Kyle Walker-Peters once the window opens, thus, leaving a big gap on the right-hand side of defence.
According to Transfermarkt's valuations, they consider Castagne to be worth £14.4m following his displays for Atalanta in Serie A.

One reason Spurs are targeting Meunier this summer is because he's available on a free transfer, a form of approach that could rise in stock given the rapidly declining finances during this unprecedented time.
For Castagne, however, Daniel Levy and co will have to cough up a sum of money with the player's contract not expiring for another year.
Either way, the arrival of a further right-back could be the final nail in the coffin for Aurier. The Ivorian has struggled this season despite his six assists, and his display against RB Leipzig in the Champions League rather typified his Spurs career.
The 27-year-old completed just 79% of his passes while being dispossessed once as he earned a measly match rating of 6.3/10 from WhoScored.
Although Castagne fails to offer much in the final third - he has two assists all season - he is more than adept when playing in defence. His highest match ratings this term have come when he's played at right-wing back or left-wing back.
For a side looking to improve their defence, it would be smart to get rid of Aurier and replace him with Castagne. That being said, they should only target him if they fail to land Meunier on a free transfer.
