EA Sports have officially announced this year’s instalment of the hugely popular Madden series.

Madden 21’s trailer uses a selection of gameplay footage and stunning cinematics to give gamers a real feel of the game, with the American Football giant available for pre-order now.

Last year’s NFL MVP Lamar Jackson is the game’s cover star, with the Baltimore Ravens quarterback tweeting that it was ‘a dream come true’.

From the trailer, the game looks set to be the most refined Madden to date, with an emphasis on ‘all out control’, a ‘new pass-rush control’, ‘realistic open-field tackling’ and an overhaul of ‘user-controlled celebrations’.

The three versions currently on offer are the Standard edition (£59.99), Deluxe edition (£79.99) and MVP edition (£89.99). Both the Deluxe and MVP editions come with three days early access, whilst all three versions give players one of 32 NFL Team Elite Packs, five Madden Ultimate Team (MUT) Gold Team Fantasy Packs, and a Uniform Pack.

But which edition is best for you? We’ve broken it down below.

The Deluxe edition includes seven MUT Gold Team Fantasy Packs, with the MVP edition gifting players a whopping 12 MUT Gold Team Fantasy Packs, a Quicksell Training Pack, the Madden Championship Series Ultimate Champion Pack, and a Lamar Jackson Elite Item.

You can watch the newly-dropped trailer below.

As you can see from the like-to-dislike ratio, and also the comments section, fans of the game are not happy with what they have seen, with 14,000 people choosing to dislike the video as of writing this article!

The game drops on August 25 for PS4 and Xbox One, and is also available for pre-order on EA’s online platform Origin and, for the first time in the franchise’s history, Steam.

Madden 21 will be playable on the next generation of consoles once the PS5 and Xbox Series X launch later this year, and players who have already purchased the game on the current generation will be able to upgrade for free when they upgrade consoles.
