Leeds United have rivals for the signature of Coventry City defender Michael Rose, per Football Insider.

The 24-year-old is being monitored by Marcelo Bielsa’s side ahead of the summer transfer window.

Rose is entering the final 12 months of his contract but Leeds are not the only club monitoring his progress.

Bristol City are also said to be interested, with Rose impressing throughout the season at Coventry.

They are set to jump into the Championship next season after a campaign in which they have lost just three times but it remains to be seen whether he will be playing in the second-tier in 2020/21.

Leeds could be playing in the Premier League next season, as they sit one point clear of West Bromwich Albion at the top of the Championship.

So too could Bristol, however, as they are just one point off the play-off places.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

Leeds have the advantage here.

They are topping the Championship and they are more than likely to win automatic promotion to the top-flight; they lie seven points clear of third-placed Fulham.

They also have the carrot of Marcelo Bielsa, who could well mould Rose into a truly excellent centre-back.

The 24-year-old’s performances have belied his years this season and he even captained Coventry against Rochdale earlier this season.

It seems sure that he will be taking a step up soon; whether he stays with Coventry, moves to Bristol, or makes the jump to Leeds, it remains to be seen.

Leeds, though, seem to be leading the race.
