The Premier League is finally back and with it, came controversy. Oh football, we have missed you. In the 38th minute of Aston Villa vs Sheffield United, goalline technology appeared to simply fail. Oliver Norwood swung a freekick into the Villa box that caught goalkeeper Orjan Nyland off-guard and he appeared to fumble the ball over his line while catching it. But no goal was given, despite the replay showing it CLEARLY should have been.So what happened? In the immediate aftermath, there were plenty of contrasting reports. Some claimed the technology hadn't been turned on, others claimed Hawkeye's camera was blocked, while on Sky Sports, Jamie Redknapp suggested Michael Oliver's watch buzzed in the dressing room at half-time. With so many suggestions floating about, Hawk-Eye, the goal-line tech providers, moved quickly to release a statement on the controversy.

So, it seems that for the first time in over 9,000 games, cameras were obstructed to a point where they couldn't see the ball cross the line. Madness!
