Raul Jimenez speaks out about Manchester United interest

Raul Jimenez has publicly name-dropped six clubs who could be interested in signing him this summer.

The Mexico striker was speaking in his homeland this week, being asked about his future by actress Jessica Coch,

He said (via Sport Witness): “It’s something very cool, I don’t know if they are true, they are rumours. Since they are talking about me, different teams like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool. They are teams that in the history of football are important."

This quote comes after the Wolves forward revealed earlier this year that he would find it difficult to ignore interest if Madrid and Barcelona came calling.

Whether United do make an approach for the 29-year-old remains to be seen but they will have to fight off some serious competition if Jimenez's list of suitors is true.

At the moment, he is rated at £36m by Transfermarkt, a similar fee to the one Wolves paid to sign him permanently last year.

Man United are clearly in the market for more firepower this summer with links to the likes of Jadon Sancho, Wissam Ben Yedder and Lautaro Martinez already in recent weeks and months.

Odion Ighalo may have signed an additional loan deal at Old Trafford but he isn't a striker who will offer too much competition for the likes of Marcus Rashford in the league.

Jimenez, on the other hand, could well do.

For Wolves this term, he has 22 goals in 44 games, cementing himself as one of the most underrated forwards in the Premier League.

Standing at 6 foot 3, he's quite a tall figure and could represent the ideal plan B for Solskjaer and co.

Rashford is a striker who likes to sit on the shoulder of the last man and run in behind, but while Jimenez's movement is impressive, he's very good at holding the ball up.

If United's interest becomes concrete, he'd certainly be a worthwhile addition.
