Sunderland are looking to start a summer overhaul with the addition of Conor McGrandles.

According to Football Insider, the 24-year-old is a top summer target for the Wearsiders as they look to build towards the new season.

The MK Dons star, who has a year left on his contract, is available as the club look to cut costs going into the new season.

Scottish sides Aberdeen and Hibernian are also said to be keen.

While a move for McGrandles is far from complete, it could be the start of a busy summer at the Stadium Of Light.

The Black Cats could have a drastically different looking squad when the new season resumes as the club look to prepare for a third season in League One.

According to The Sunderland Echo, the Wearsiders will not be offering contracts to five first team players.

They are Duncan Watmore, Joel Lynch, Alim Ozturk, Jack Baldwin and Ethan Robson.

While extensions have been offered to Jon McLaughlin, Chris Maguire and Tom Flanagan, it appears that the turnover of players could be huge as Sunderland look to rebuild.

GIVEMESPORT'S Phil Spencer says...

It's going to be a massive summer for Sunderland AFC.

After missing out on promotion for the second year running, it's time for wholesale changes at the Stadium of Light.

Supporters will be hoping that Stewart Donald will sell the club, and that will lead to a new era on Wearside.

Regardless of what happens at ownership level, it's key that Phil Parkinson gets his squad in shape.

Trimming the budget is going to be key, but what's also important is building a squad who will play the football that he wants, and one which knows how to get out of the third tier.
