Since its launch in 2003, ‘Call of Duty’ has become one of the most successful franchises in gaming history.
Now, the series is bigger than ever following the addition of popular Battle Royale mode ‘Warzone’ back in March.
If you’ve ever wondered how much money Activision makes from the franchise, you’re in luck. SlottyVegas has done the number crunching and the results are insane.
“We can exclusively reveal that Call of Duty is making a staggering £2.4 million per day from physical purchases and online transactions,” said a press release.
“That’s just over £1,600 per minute.”
These figures are remarkable considering the series went through a rough patch in 2016 following the release of ‘Infinite Warfare’.
It was also revealed that Activision have made a whopping £194,204,059 during the last 80 days of quarantine.
And the figures are expected to keep rising following the release of Season 4, which includes several new modes and maps, plus the return of fan favourite Captain Price as a playable character.
The latest instalment was initially meant to come out on June 3, but Activision decided to postpone it out of respect for the Black Lives Matter movement.
However, many fans aren’t happy with the enormous downloads that come with new seasons.
The complete Modern Warfare experience will now take up nearly 200GB on your hard drive (if you’re a PlayStation player).
While this is a huge amount, you have to commend Activision for consistently adding new content to the game. Perhaps a few other companies could learn a thing or two from them.
