Manchester United are in talks to sign Cengiz Under from Roma this summer.

That's according to Italian publication, Corriere dello Sport (via the Express), who suggest the Serie A side are ready to cash in on the winger.

It's understood that United are interested in signing the Turkey international and have already held talks with Franco Baldini, the advisor to Roma's billionaire owner James Pallotta.

The pair have already done business in the past so the relationship is thought to be good. The Red Devils loaned Chris Smalling to Roma earlier this season.

Under could command a fee of around £26.8m according to the report, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer attempting to court a cheaper alternative to Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho.

GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...

Under is as far from Sancho as you could get, and that's why they'd have to pay a 1/4 of the £100m Dortmund reportedly want for the winger.

So far this term, the 22-year-old has just three goals in 19 matches for Roma, falling some way short of Sancho's 20 in all competitions.

On top of that, the winger hasn't managed to muster a single assist in 2019/20, falling some way short of the expectations previously thrown on his shoulders.

The Turk has been compared to a former United target in the past, Paolo Dybala, being renowned for his technical dribbling ability.

That's one of the best facets of his game, conjuring up 1.9 dribbles per game in the Serie A this season. It's a tally that would put him second on the list of United player's this season, only behind Marcus Rashford.

However, it would be hard to see Under taking up a permanent place in the side with competition brewing in the form of Dan James and Anthony Martial.
