WWE news: Allegations of harassment and sexual assault made against multiple British wrestlers

Allegations were made against a number of WWE UK stars

A number of female wrestlers have taken to social media to speak out about the abuse they have suffered while working in the British wrestling scene.

On Thursday night, #SpeakingOut was trending on Twitter, as performers shared their stories online.

Notably, allegations of wrongdoing have been made against a number of WWE NXT UK Superstars including Ligero, Joe Coffey, Jordan Devlin and Travis Banks.

Independent wrestler Natalie Sykes has publically accused Ligero - real name Simon Musk - for sexually harassing her.

"I am so unbelievably scared but I guess I have nothing to lose. thank you to those who have encouraged me to come forward," Sykes tweeted.

Millie McKenzie, another independent star, has accused Banks of being abusive during a relationship they had when she was 17-years old.

Former professional wrestler Sierra Loxton has claimed that she had to block Coffey on social media because he 'wouldn't leave her alone'.

She also alleged that three other females have been sexually harassed by the NXT UK performer.

Hannah Francesca appeared to accuse Devlin of being physically abusive, posting pictures of her bruises as part of the #SpeakingOut movement.

She has since made her account private and deleted the tweet.

WWE have responded to the allegations against Devlin with the following statement:

We take any allegation of this nature very seriously and are looking into the matter.

These posts, and the many others that have been shared, were met with an outpouring of support from wrestling stars and fans alike.

The decision to make these stories public was likely sparked by a Twitter user by the name of 'Tori', who opened up about her experiences with independent wrestler and promoter David Starr.

You can read that in full below:

Following Tori speaking out, a number of indie promotions have cut all ties with Starr, while other women have come forward to share their experiences from the British wrestling scene.

SportsKeeda's Tom Colohue has reported that in response to the developing situation, an emergency meeting has been called by WWE officials to discuss the accusations coming in against some of their NXT UK talent.
