Newcastle's takeover could be completed in a matter of days, not weeks according to one journalist.Guardian reporter Sean Ingle took to Twitter to confirm the news as he gave his opinion on social media.

This is the second time in as many days that an update of this sort has emerged, with The Transfer Window Podcast presenter suggesting on Wednesday that the Premier League could soon make an announcement.

PIF have been required to pass the owner's and director's test but piracy of broadcasts in Saudi Arabia has thrown the deal into doubt.

Though, Ingle has hinted that the announcement will be soon and that it will be a positive one, leading to PIF finally taking over from Mike Ashley.

GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...

This should come as great news for Newcastle fans.

For two months on end they've been waiting on the edge of their seats for PIF to finally walk through the door at St James' Park and here we are, quite possibly on the verge of an announcement.

It feels like forever since the takeover reports first emerged but with football now returning, there couldn't be a more ideal time for the deal to finally be concluded.

Providing an announcement is made soon, there will be no further distractions for Steve Bruce and his players.

That can only be positive for a side looking to end the season in good spirits to be able to attract some of the best players around.

Already since being linked with a PIF takeover, there have been reports of moves for Kai Havertz and Philippe Coutinho among others so it's certainly a positive time for all of the Toon Army.
