Tottenham are interested in signing Atalanta goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini this summer.

Tuttosport (via Sport Witness) reported on Thursday that the Lilywhites were thinking of making a move for the stopper, although they'll receive competition from Roma.

The claims suggest that Atalanta are ready for approaches and any potential suitor must be ready for some tough negotiations.

They're set to demand €20m-€30m (£18.1m-£27.1m) for his services with three years still remaining on his current terms in Lombardy.

Gollini has already played in England, coming through the academy at Manchester United and then moving to Aston Villa.

Therefore, he'd presumably be able to adapt to English conditions if he moved to north London.

GIVEMESPORT'S Matt Dawson says...

If Spurs are willing to pay such a hefty price for a goalkeeper then surely he'd be arriving as number one.

Thus, it could be the final nail in the coffin for Hugo Lloris, a stopper who is easily past his best.

The Frenchman has made two errors leading to goals in the Premier League this term, also sitting out of action with a shoulder injury for 21 matches from October to January.

It's becoming increasingly apparent that Lloris is someone Spurs can't rely on, meaning their pursuit of Gollini makes a large degree of sense.

The 25-year-old has been impressive in the Champions League this term, helping Atalanta reach the last 16 of the competition. His performance where he made two saves against Shakhtar Donestk was certainly one of the standouts.

Gollini may not have played too much football at the elite level but there is evidence of an improving keeper, certainly with the ball at his feet - registering a pass success rate north of 71% in Serie A.

Lloris has had a wonderful Spurs career, particularly under Mauricio Pochettino where he earned 229appearances, but he's seen better days.
