Wolves have joined Everton in the race to sign Jean-Clair Todibo from Barcelona, per Mundo Deportivo via Sport Witness.

The Toffees have been linked with a move for the central defender throughout the past few weeks, with a report at the beginning of the month suggesting that the Toffees are favourites to secure his signature.

Todibo has spent the second half of the season on loan at Schalke 04 in Germany but Carlo Ancelotti’s side now face competition for the 20-year-old.

Indeed, the latest report suggests that Wolves have made their interest known in the defender.

A bid is said to have been tabled from the Molineux club, with AS Roma also reported to be interested.

Sport Witness claims that Todibo would cost €25 million (£22.6m) but there is no mention of the fee that Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are willing to pay for the youngster.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

Todibo has not really had time to make an impact in Germany.

Indeed, throughout his time in the Bundesliga, he has made eight domestic appearances, with four starts.

He has averaged 1.9 tackles per game, per WhoScored, 1.9 interceptions, 2.6 clearances, and 1.5 aerial duels won.

At the age of 20, those are pretty impressive numbers and one has to think that he can make the step up to Premier League level should he need to.

In total, Todibo has also played five times for Barcelona, and he is capable of playing at centre-back or in defensive midfield.

It is no surprise, then, that both Everton and Wolves are interested.

He is young, multi-talented, and is only likely to get better; at a little over £20m, this would be a bargain buy.
