Tottenham Hotspur almost saw two points disappear against Manchester United because of a contentious decision from referee Jon Moss, before VAR intervened.
Spurs took the lead against United through Steven Bergwijn but an equaliser came for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side from the penalty spot, as Bruno Fernandes converted after Eric Dier was adjudged to have fouled Paul Pogba.
As the game reached its conclusion, however, Moss attempted to award United another spot-kick.
Fernandes hit the ground this time after Dier was adjudged to have made contact with the Portugal international.
Moss pointed to the spot instantly but VAR showed that the defender made no contact whatsoever with the attacking midfielder.
The decision was subsequently overturned, and the game ended 1-1.

This was a concerning decision from Moss.
He had a clear view of the incident, in which no contact whatsoever was made, and yet he still decided to point to the spot.
There was no indication whatsoever that it should be a spot-kick but the referee pointed to the spot nonetheless.
That there were no fans in attendance to potentially shout, scream and sway the referee makes it all the worse as a decision and Spurs fans have VAR to thank that they were not on the losing side.
It is perhaps a lucky escape but this was absolutely the right decision after VAR intervened.
