Leeds United are interested in signing goalkeeper Emi Martinez this summer.
Those are the words of reputable journalist Phil Hay who confirmed the news during his latest Athletic Q&A on Thursday afternoon.
After being asked about possible plans for the summer, Hay stated:
"If Casilla goes (which he might well do), then they'll need to think about another keeper. One who's been mentioned to me is Emiliano Martinez at Arsenal (although Leeds intend to sign Meslier permanently and there's every chance that he could end up as first choice next season. Bielsa thinks he's good enough)."
Martinez is 27 years of age but is currently the Gunners' second choice 'keeper behind German Bernd Leno.
His latest loan spell was with Reading where he caught the eye in helping to ensure the Royals weren't relegated to League One. During his time there he made 18 appearances, keeping five clean sheets.
A fellow Argentine, he could be enthralled by the prospect of working under Marcelo Bielsa.

No fee or terms were mentioned in Hay's little snippet about the goalkeeper but Transfermarkt currently rate the Arsenal stopper at just £2.5m.
Whether that would be enough to prise him away on a permanent deal remains to be seen, but he'd certainly be an interesting acquisition.
He may only be playing second fiddle at the Gunners, but he's a top goalkeeper and showed as much during his time in the second-tier last season.
Martinez conceded just 23 times in 18 games, helping to ensure a previously leaky defence had someone reliable between the sticks.
At the age of 27, you'd expect him to have more matches under his belt than the 25 for the Arsenal first-team but he's earned glowing reviews in the past, particularly from Arsene Wenger.
However, whether that's enough to convince Bielsa to choose him over Illan Meslier remains to be seen. The Frenchman has impressed since finally being given a chance in January, showing a large degree of competence with the ball at his feet.
