Manchester United fans were desperate to see Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba in action for the first time on Friday night.Supporters have spent the majority of lockdown wondering how their marquee January signing would play alongside arguably the best player in their squad when he returned from injury.There was a real sense that as much as Pogba can frustrate the Old Trafford faithful that the arrival of Fernandes will have finally given him the midfield partner that his quality deserves.That being said, the early signs weren't exactly promising with Pogba and Fernandes playing in the United XI that lost a behind-closed-doors friendly with Championship side West Brom.And supporters were left to wait even longer upon the club's Premier League return when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer controversially decided to leave the returning Pogba on the bench.

Fernandes and Pogba combine
Nevertheless, with Tottenham taking the lead in the first-half through Steven Bergwijn, Solskjaer decided to bring on the World Cup winner after the break with United chasing a goal.
It meant that United fans had approximately 27 minutes to enjoy Pogba and Fernandes playing together for the very first time in a competitive game and they got plenty of bang for their bucks.
That's because Fernandes, who had already been playing well, dropped a Man of the Match-securing performance and Pogba practically ran the show from the bench.
Every time Pogba and Fernandes linked up
In other words, they were essentially the best two players on the pitch during the final half-hour, creating chance after chance and eventually combining for United's equaliser.
It was Pogba's brilliant run and skill on the right flank that forced a rash challenge from Eric Dier and won a penalty for United that Fernandes converted by sending Lloris the wrong way.
But if you think that's the only time Pogba and Fernandes combined with success during the game, then you're badly mistaken.

Aside from collaborating for the equalising goal itself, Fernandes and Pogba almost produced a superb team goal with their very first piece of combination play in the game.
It was Pogba's pass that set up an incredible turn of skill and fizzed delivery into the box from Fernandes that, had Anthony Martial not hesitated, could easily have produced a goal.
And the half-volley pass from Pogba that everybody has rightfully been talking about today was - you guessed it - set up for him by Fernandes himself.
So, to say they only actually shared the pitch for 27 minutes, to produce impressive highlights like that as a duo is seriously impressive and a very exciting prospect for the rest of the season.
