Leeds United are set to splash the cash if they win promotion to the Premier League, per Football Insider.

The Championship club are leading the charge towards promotion and are ready to spend almost £50 million if they make the jump into the top-flight.

Indeed, the report states that they have already committed to a recruitment drive that will see four players arrive.

Football Insider claims that, should they be promoted, Leeds will spend £15 million on Helder Costa, making his loan move permanent, and another £18m on Jean-Kevin Augustin.

They would also like to keep Jack Harrison and Illan Meslier, who are on loan from Manchester City and Lorient respectively.

Those two deals would cost nearly £15m, taking their spending to £48m prior to any more additions to their squad.

The report also states that there is a £175m pot available for those clubs who are promoted.

GIVEMESPORT’S Harry Sherlock says…

One has to wonder about the logic in this.

Costa has played 37 times in the Championship, scoring three goals and registering three assists, while Augustin has worn a white shirt in the league just three times. He hasn’t scored.

Harrison makes the most sense, having scored five goals and laid on seven assists, but Meslier is nothing short of a back-up goalkeeper.

They may have agreed these deals if they are promoted but, even still, this feels like £48m spent on one good player and three average ones.

That will not help them remain in the Premier League.
